The lunch talk by our alumn, Glenn Lunden ’83, who is now a Senior Director of Subway Schedules, will inaugurate conversations we plan to have about the variety of careers History majors have. Next semester we will have several events, including with some alumni from the last decade with different career paths.

We Speak We Stand – Wesleyan’s Bystander Intervention Program

We are having our next campus-wide training November 3rd, 7:00-10:00pm in 41 Wyllys room 112.

Become an active bystander by registering for Wesleyan’s bystander intervention training! Empowered bystanders make the campus community safer by standing up and speaking out when they witness situations that could potentially harm the health and safety of others. Intervening with peers can be difficult for a number of reasons and training will provide you with the skills to move from inaction to action and intervene safely and effectively.

The training features two distinct and separate tracks: sexual violence prevention and alcohol use intervention.

College of Letters Open House, October 13, 4:30PM

The College of Letters is a three-year, interdisciplinary major for the study of European literature, history, and philosophy, from antiquity to the present. During these three years, students participate as a cohort in a series of colloquia in which they read and discuss works together (in English), learn to think critically about texts in relation to their contexts and influences—both European and non-European—and in relation to the disciplines that shape and are shaped by those texts. Majors also become proficient in a foreign language and study abroad in order to deepen their knowledge of another culture. The COL, a unique college within the University, has its own library and workspace where students can attend lectures, study together, and meet informally with their professors, whose offices surround the library.

We will hold an open house for prospective majors on Monday, October 13 at 4:30 in the COL Library at 41 Wyllis.

The dates for Homecoming Weekend are the 17th and 18th of October, which coincides with Fall Break, but we hope that we can make Homecoming a memorable event for everyone on campus. The Navaratri Festival of Indian music and dance is a grand Wesleyan tradition, now in its 38th year. The Center for the Arts encourages first-year students to experience this important festival by offering you a free ticket to any concert during the festival, which runs from Wednesday, September 24 through Sunday, September 28, 2014. Grading Mode Option Deadline 9/26 at 5pm

The deadline to change the Grading Mode of courses designated as “Student Option” is Friday, 9/26 at 5pm. If you wish to change the Grading Mode of a course for which this option is available, you must submit a Drop/Add/Withdrawal/Change of Grading Mode form to the Registrar’s Office by the 9/26 5pm deadline. Simply provide your name, wesid, subject/catalog/section information for the course and desired grading mode, and submit the form to the Registrar’s Office on the first floor of North College. Instructor and Faculty Advisor signatures are NOT required for grading mode changes.
